British Home Secretary Swella Braverman said the British government will include the Russian private military company (PMC) Wagner on the list of terrorist organizations. This has been reported BBC.
According to the minister, the decree on the inclusion of PMCs on the list of terrorist organizations will incorporate the fact that their members are “terrorists” into UK legislation. Braverman believes Wagner’s activities in Ukraine and Africa pose a “threat to global security”.
According to the BBC’s report, the draft decree will be submitted to the Parliament soon. Declaring Wagner PMC a terrorist organization would outlaw its members in the UK and supporting it and publicly approving its activities would become a criminal offense in the kingdom. The maximum penalty for such crimes is 14 years in prison.
Carrying or displaying symbols of a terrorist organization in the UK could result in a fine of up to £5,000 ($6,300) or up to six months in prison, according to the document. If such an organization is found in the country, its assets will be confiscated.
