Anna Siarkowska, Member of Parliament of the Confederation, until recently affiliated with PiS, commented on Twitter on the position of the Polish Bishops’ Conference on the admissibility of abortion in the case of maternal mental disorders. “Jesus died on the cross not for PiS or any other party to win the election, but for our salvation,” the politician wrote. Siarkowska clarified her earlier comment in this way.
KEP position
Abortion cannot be legally allowed due to the presence of mental disorders in the mother
– announces the Polish Episcopal Conference.
The full text of the Episcopate’s position was published on its website and Twitter account.
Members of the Expert Team strongly oppose the attempt to create a new interpretation of the existing law, “aimed at broadening the criteria that allow for the legal deprivation of an unborn child’s life for psychiatric reasons, also because in practice this would mean legalizing abortion on demand, moreover through unconstitutional, non-statutory manipulation”
– we read in the KEP communiqué.
They add that such action violates art. 39 of the Code of Medical Ethics, which states: “By taking medical measures with a pregnant woman, the doctor is also responsible for the health and life of her child. Therefore, it is the doctor’s duty to try to maintain the health and life of the child even before birth.
– emphasized the episcopate.

Siarkowska: “That’s not why Jesus died on the cross…”
MP Anna Siarkowska, currently associated with the Confederation, and previously with PiS and Sovereign Poland, referred to the KEP’s position.
Finally the Church stops burying its head in the sand. Apparently the bishops finally understood that Jesus Christ did not die on the cross so that @pisorgpl would win the next election. And that is why, despite the ongoing election campaign, they decided to take a clear and uneasy position for PiS. So they are criticizing what should have been criticized a long time ago: @pisorgpl’s attempt to introduce de facto abortion on demand. Because this would be an extension of the understanding of the grounds for abortion in relation to the woman’s life and health to mental health

After some time, the politician clarified her position, adding that she meant not only PiS, but also “any other party”.
More precisely, for those who struggle with reading comprehension, Jesus did not die on the cross for @pisorgpl or any other party to win the election, but for our salvation. And that is why the Church must always uphold the Gospel and preach its teachings, regardless of the political weather, whether in season or out of season.
