“In connection with legionella infections in Poland, Russian propaganda has carried out a number of disinformation activities against our country,” Stanisław Żaryn, the government’s plenipotentiary for the security of the information space of the Republic of Poland, announced on Twitter.
In the contribution to the recording posted Monday, he emphasized that Russia was quick to use the opportunity to promote typical lies against Poland.
But there’s also new content…
– added.
Russia uses information activities against Poland, often using current events
– noted the Foreign Minister in the Prime Minister’s office.
He pointed out that this was the case with legionella infections that Russia used for its ongoing propaganda efforts.
The Kremlin wants to cause panic
On the one hand, the Kremlin tried to create panic and chaos among local communities and residents of Podkarpacie. The messages were intended to show that the matter is much more serious than it actually is
— Zaryn said in the recording.
On the other hand, Russia’s typical activities also included false information that legionella was the result of accepting refugees from Ukraine and that the disease was brought to Poland from Ukraine – he noted.
He stated that in disinformation the Kremlin also presented absurd claims that legionella had not broken out in Poland at all, and that what actually happened was an attempt to hide the fact that Poland sent many soldiers and mercenaries to Ukraine who died at the front. In this false message, legionella would be propaganda to justify the magnitude of deaths among Polish citizens, he reported.
This kind of nonsense and absurdity is a typical line of influence of Russia, which on the one hand tries to stir up distrust between Poles and Ukrainians, tries to stir up hatred between our societies. On the other hand, it tries to show that Poland is directly involved in warfare, is a country that provokes, escalates and embroils the West in a war with Russia.
– assessed the minister in the Prime Minister’s Chancellery.
According to the deputy minister-coordinator of the secret services, all these actions are intended to undermine cooperation between the West and Ukraine, which could allow Russia to win the ongoing war.
Currently, Russia considers its information activities as part of military operations against Ukraine
– added the Government’s Plenipotentiary for the Security of the Information Space of the Republic of Poland.
Monday is the 558th day of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The aggression started on February 24, 2022.
