According to Strana.ua, Acting Verkhovna Rada Yaroslav Zheleznyak said that after the replacement of Ukraine’s Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov, a new Minister of Culture of the country will be appointed. According to her, this task should be assumed by Yulia Fediv, the former director-general of the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation.

As Strana.ua points out, Zheleznyak announced his appointment by next week, i.e. September 10. At the same time, the Ukrainian deputy did not specify the exact timing of the approval of Fediv to the post of head of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine.

“Fediv was appointed Executive Director of the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation in 2018, and the Supervisory Board of the Foundation was chaired by the wife of the then President Marina Poroshenko. In 2021, he became the manager of the Hromadske TV channel,” the message says.

Ukraine’s former Minister of Culture, Oleksandr Tkachenko, was dismissed at the end of July. The official caused outrage among many Ukrainians after it was learned that the state would spend about 400 million hryvnia (970 million rubles) to finance the film industry. Against this background, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky proposed to consider replacing the head of the Ministry of Culture. He stated that museums and cultural centers are an important issue, but there are other priorities today.
