Małgorzata Zych, active as part of the Senate Pact in District 54 (Stalowa Wola) in Podkarpacie, posted a statement online condemning Russian aggression against Ukraine and calling Vladimir Putin a war criminal. This is in response to the words of the Third Way leaders who threatened to remove Zych from the lists before the Senate if it did not condemn the Kremlin dictator and the crimes committed in Ukraine.
Controversy surrounding the Third Way candidate
Małgorzata Zych came off the Confederation list in the 2019 elections and until recently was also the leader of the Confederation Club in Tarnobrzeg. She worked closely with Grzegorz Braun, a member of parliament of this party, and also co-organized the conference “Stop the Ukrainering of Poland” in Tarnobrzeg, among others. In the upcoming elections, she is a candidate for the Senate recommended by PSL as part of the Senate pact in constituency 54 (Stalowa Wola) in Podkarpacie.
When asked by journalists if she regretted her words about the “Ukrainization” of Poland, Zych said that there are several problems in Polish society, which are perceived differently by different social groups, and that the Senate has a full representation of the society should be. She assured that she had never used the words “eurokolkhoz” to describe the European Union.
We are in the EU and there are no ideas to leave it
she added.
I have democratic views. The basis for the formation of the Senate Pact was that all groups that share democratic values, and I fully identify with those values, have united
remarked Zych.
When asked if she believed that Vladimir Putin was a war criminal, she replied that she was a local activist and did not know much about big politics, and that international institutions and bodies were responsible for Putin’s recognition as a war criminal.
Threat of removal from electoral rolls
During the Poland of the Future Campus in Olsztyn, one of the young people asked the leader of PSL and Poland 2050 why people who, as he said, cannot call Putin a criminal even today, are on the lists of the democratic opposition.
We were looking for a candidate for the Stalowa Wola district. It’s not easy, everyone has dropped out, nobody really wants to run for office, certainly not for the Senate, the chances are slim. If someone can go from bad to good, in my opinion you should invite them, you should give them a chance
replied the politician.
Kosiniak-Kamysz noted that he saw many such examples on the lists of other election commissions.
We can even multiply recently (examples) of people who have changed their minds and are now on the right side of power
he said.
It is also an opportunity, he says, to fend off some of the voters now moving towards the Confederacy.
If we want to win the election, we cannot lock ourselves in our bubble, because it is too small,” he said. “But with one thing I want 100 percent. agree: if Mrs Zych does not make a clear statement of condemnation of Putin, of what he is doing in Ukraine, of condemnation of genocide, that is, of standing with our values, and does not make a clear statement on this, then she is not our candidate
he said, to which the audience applauded.

Statement Zych
Małgorzata Zych posted a statement on social media emphasizing that she condemned Russian aggression against Ukraine and called Vladimir Putin a war criminal.
In response to repeated questions, I unequivocally condemn the brutal Russian aggression against Ukraine. The crimes committed by the Russians make Vladimir Putin, who decides on this aggression, a war criminal. All crimes committed during this war must be accounted for and the perpetrators punished
Zych wrote in a statement.
I decide, on the recommendation of the Polish People’s Party, to take part in the elections to the Senate of the Republic of Poland. I accept the Party’s program and the values that guide this group. These values include siding with the principles of a democratic state governed by law, freedom and respect for human dignity, which are being violated in the war caused by Russia
– said Malgorzata Zych.
