“73 persons – including from Afghanistan, Somalia and Yemen – tried to illegally enter Poland from the territory of Belarus on Tuesday,” the border guard summarized on Twitter.

In the operational area of the Białowieża Border Guard Post, 27 people wanted to cross the border by crossing the river Leśna Praw. The border guard reported that two Bangladeshi citizens were detained on the Polish side, and that the remaining 25 people returned to Belarus when they saw the Polish patrols.
In the border area, for which the border guard in Bobrowniki is responsible, thirteen people crossed the river Świsłocz: six Syrians, five Iranians and two Egyptians. All these people were detained.
According to the statistics of the border guard, there were 20.6 thousand people on the Polish-Belarusian border since the beginning of the year. attempts to cross it illegally, there were 4,000 in July. such attempts, and in August so far – about 2.7 thousand. The Podlaski Border Guard Unit concluded that the migrants came from nearly 50 different countries.
In 2022, a steel barrier 5.5 meters high was built along the 186 km long border with Belarus, which is the main element to secure this border against illegal migration. It is complemented by a system of cameras and sensors, built 206 km from this border.
In 2024, construction of such an electronic dam will also begin along the Bug River in Lubelskie and Świsłocz and Istoczanka in Podlaskie. The companies that will build this dam must be selected by the end of 2023 and the investment will be financed by EU funds. Cameras and motion detectors will be installed on the banks of the border road.
