Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky admitted that it is possible to hold elections in the country before the end of hostilities if Western countries provide financing. He stated this in an interview with Rada TV channel.
“I will not choose on credit, I will not take money from weapons and give it to elections,” he said.
Zelensky suggested that “then take risks together”, “the observers should be in the trenches.”
He noted that $5 billion would have to be spent on holding elections in peacetime if Western countries were prepared to provide funding, but did not name the amount that might be needed to hold elections during the conflict.

Shulyak also noted that lawmakers are currently drafting legislative changes that will affect the holding of the first “post-war elections”. He did not specify what the innovations would be.
