More than 20 countries participated in the declaration of the seven Group (G7) countries on long-term security guarantees for Kiev. This was stated by the Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky on his Telegram channel.
“As of today, more than 20 countries have joined the Group of Seven declaration on Ukraine’s security guarantees. Our team is working on it. now almost 30 [стран] with the G7 in general,” he said.
He also noted that Kiev has started negotiations with the UK, Canada and the US on the signing of bilateral agreements on security guarantees.
On August 26, the office of the President of Ukraine, Ukrainian officials started Canadian Security Assurance Dialogue. It was stated that the first round of dialogue with the Canadian side started with the participation of the Ukrainian leader Igor Zhovkva, the deputy head of the administration.
Prior to that, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida had reported that the leaders of the G7 countries accepted a statement of support for Ukraine containing security guarantees after the meeting in Vilnius. In the joint declaration of the G7, it is stated that the union countries will increase the supply of weapons to Ukraine, accelerate the exchange of intelligence data and expand the training of the army. In Russia, the security guarantees Ukraine received from the G7 countries before joining NATO were viewed as potentially dangerous.
