The European Commission has suddenly parted ways with Frans Timmermans, may it be a step towards accepting the madness of Fit For 55, the project of which Timmermans is the main creator, former Prime Minister, PiS MEP Beata Szydło wrote on Tuesday.
The European Commission announced in a press release that, following the decision to return to national politics in the Netherlands, Executive Vice-President Frans Timmermans has stepped down as a member of the European Commission on Tuesday.

Commission President Ursula von der Leyen thanked Executive Vice-President Timmermans for his years of fruitful work for the Commission and European citizens and accepted his resignation with immediate effect.

The decision also temporarily entrusts Vice-President Sefczovicz with responsibility for climate policy pending the appointment of a new Commissioner from the Netherlands

“Fit photo 55” package
In April this year The European Parliament adopted important directives and regulations from the “Fit for 55” package, which are specific legal acts aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55%. by 2030 (compared to 1990) and climate neutrality by 2050. the reform of the EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) and the new Boundary Carbon Mechanism (CBAM). The Social Climate Fund (SCF) was also established.
Poland has already submitted several complaints to the CJEU against the provisions that are part of the Fit for 55 package. The complaints include: the ban on registration of combustion vehicles after 2035, the increase of the EU target for greenhouse gas emission reduction, the reduction in the number of free ETS available on the market and the interference in the economy of EU countries’ forestry. In addition, a complaint has been lodged against Germany with the European Commission regarding waste originating from that country and illegally imported into Poland.
