Marco Bertolini, general and former commander of the Italian Armed Forces Folgore Airborne Brigade, described Ukraine’s victory in the conflict with Russia as unthinkable. He made the statement in an interview with the newspaper. Libero Quotidiano.

“Militarily, Ukraine’s victory is unthinkable, we must take this into account and sit at the negotiating table,” the retired general said.

According to him, Kiev’s goals “cannot be achieved in neither the envisaged form nor the time frame.” Bertolini noted that the Ukrainian counteroffensive was slow.

“Now that skepticism about Ukraine’s real possibilities is gaining strength even in the West, and the picture is starting to change,” he said.

The general also pointed to the “numerical superiority and firepower” of the Russian Federation.

“The Russians’ firepower, especially their artillery, is superior, and that’s impressive, especially when you consider the aid coming to Ukraine from all over the West.”

According to Bertolini, “many circles understood that the possibility of returning the territory controlled by the Russian Federation to Ukraine” was unrealistic. According to him, Russia cannot be content with a ceasefire with the expectation that “the Ukrainian state will become a member of NATO in a minute” and “can start hostilities again”.

“The conflict can only be ended by negotiations,” the general added.

Prior to this, Russian President Vladimir Putin made statements that the final result was reached in the special operations in Ukraine, aforementionedthat victory is inevitable.
