Waldemar Pawlak, former prime minister and former president of PSL, is running for Senate in Płock constituency. What does he have to say about the referendum? “There is only one answer to all questions: ‘no’. In principle, only one more question should be added: are you in favor of PiS continuing to rule, and here too there should be a ‘no’,” he told RMF FM, trying to be extremely witty. Forgot the election?
What would Pawlak like to do with retirement?
Does the former PSL president not believe in state pensions? Pawlak was asked about his words from 11 years ago.
I keep my approach from then, that is, you have to have savings, you have to have good relationships with children and you have to believe in civil society, which is very diverse, because the state is an important actor, but not the only An
he answered.
Let’s face it, after capital solutions are put in place, everyone pays their own pension. (…) Each of us is saving for retirement
– added.
At the same time Pawlak avoided a direct answer to the question of whether the retirement age should be raisedwhat he had advocated for years ago.
Yes, and I also said then that the transition to the funded system, ie each of us saving for retirement, only makes the retirement age itself important in one place, namely when we do not set aside enough capital for our retirement
he said.
This discussion is of course politically very attractive, because PiS won in 2015 and said it will come back and recover
he said. What else did Pawlak suggest? He added that we don’t need to change the pension system, but we need to encourage people to work extra hours, which will be tax-exempt.
“One more question needs to be added.”
The conversation could not miss the subject of the referendum, and in it the bitterness on the part of Waldemar Pawlak.
There is only one answer to all questions: no. In principle, only one more question should be added: are you in favor of PiS continuing to rule, and here it should also be “no”
he said bitingly.
The questions were propagandistic, not so objective
– added.
So what will Pawlak do? He wants to actively boycott the vote. Is he a Democrat?
I have read the referendum law and it is quite clear. (…) The only solution, if someone wants to boycott the referendum, is not to accept the card and to indicate that I refuse to accept this card. If you do not indicate this, you may also be treated as someone who took part in the referendum but, for example, did not return a card or answer questions, which does not prevent his attendance being recorded
he said.
Pawlak wants to introduce the euro
At the same time, the former prime minister decided to praise the entry euro area ostensibly as part of national security (sic!). It’s just a curiosity.
PiS researched 12 questions and, for example, the registration question [strefy] the euro turned out to have a negative potential for PiS and this question was not asked. And 10 years after the beginning of the transformation, Poland joined NATO and this guarantees our security; after 15 to the EU and this stabilized the security even more. Joining the Eurozone should also be seen as part of national security, as a prospect that benefits citizens in the form of low interest rates, low loan repayments
– he said in RMF FM, omitting other much more serious problems that the euro could bring.
Kolodziejczak, Minister of Agriculture? “I do not think so”
Why did the former head of the People’s Party decide to run for the Senate, although in 2010 PSL proposed its liquidation and the creation of the Self-Government Chamber?
The Senate is a place where it is worth tapping into the experience of people who have traveled a political path. The Senate (…) can be the guarantor of good and valuable law, it can be the patron of social dialogue
He spoke with emotion, but not very convincingly.
When the host asked Michal KolodziejczakPawlak stated that “Tusk made an interesting move”. However, when asked if Michał Kołodziejczak would become the minister of agriculture in the government that the opposition could form after the elections, Pawlak stopped:
I do not think so.
At the same time, he bit back at Kołodziejczak:
Kołodziejczak accused PSL of planning a coalition with PiS. If we make trips, Mr. Kolodziejczak would also have made trips to PiS. And he even boasted on text messages from Minister Telus, so let’s put it to rest with such accusations.
