China may call on the BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) to initiate a geopolitical conflict with the Group of Seven (G7). newspaper reports Finance TimesCiting informed sources.
According to the publication, one of the main topics of the upcoming BRICS summit will be the organization’s largest expansion in the past 10 years. As one of the representatives of the Beijing delegation said, in case of successful admission of new members, the club will have a share of world GDP comparable to the G7.
“Our collective voice in the world will become stronger,” the Chinese official said in an interview with the FT on condition of anonymity.
In this regard, the authors of the material did not rule out that the PRC may invite foreign partners to compete with the G7. However, according to the newspaper, there are currently disagreements between Beijing and New Delhi over the goal of expanding the club.
Chinese officials in particular see this process as an opportunity to challenge Western states. The publication also stated that India expects to use BRICS to protect the economic interests of developing countries.
