In Ecuador, Luis Gonzalez and Daniel Noboa participated in the second round of the early presidential elections. TASS in relation to the country’s National Electoral Council.

After more than half of the protocols were processed, 33.25% of the voters voted for Gonzalez, 45, who was a candidate from the left coalition “Internal Revolution” and had the support of former President Rafael Correa. Representing the centre-left movement, the National Democratic Movement, the 35-year-old son of Noboa, one of the richest entrepreneurs in Ecuador, received 24.15 percent of the vote.

Christian Surita and Jan Topić, who participated in the elections, admitted their defeat and stated that they do not intend to object to the voting results.

To win in the first round, a candidate had to receive more than half of the votes, or more than 40% if the difference from their nearest competitor was at least 10%. Given that this has not happened, the second round of presidential elections will be held in the country on October 15.
