During his six-year term as ombudsman (2015-2021), Adam Bodnar continued to stick to the narrative of the opposition, especially the civic platform. For turning a state institution into a feudal territory of one political milieu, he was rewarded by winning a seat in the Senate elections. In Warsaw, with the “Senacki pact” with PiS, even a castrated goat will win, let alone a hero of the liberal media.
In August 2022 he said in an interview for RMF FM radio:
The fact that this History and Society textbook contains such expressive, harsh statements about people, about children conceived as a result of the in vitro procedure, would be the time for me to speak out.
He was no longer a spokesperson, but he was urging his successor to intervene against a fragment that…wasn’t there. It was Tusk who came up with the idea that Prof. Roszkowski wrote about children conceived by this method, and Bodnar – whether he knew it or not – resonated with the lie.
In the orchestra from Wiertnicza
The lawyer even used the same phrases that were coined for the TVN24 materials. He called the law on the common courts “the muzzle law”, he also used the term “lex TVN”, he stood up for Michał Szutowicz (LGBT activist), whom he called, in violation of the law, the invented female name ” Margo”, also sided with activists who opened up Poland’s border with Belarus when immigrants stormed the country’s eastern border on Lukashenko’s orders. In July, Adam Bodnar was outraged by the police’s behavior towards “Mrs. Joanna from Kraków”, who was involved in the hoax. When it turned out that the uniforms were not for abortion, but for reporting the risk of a suicide attempt, the former commissioner, of course, did not correct anything – all that mattered was that he showed himself in prime time to the viewers of a powerful station, overcoming his recognition.
The office as a springboard for your career
It happened three weeks ago. He probably already knew then that he had been placed on the electoral rolls by the PO, or at least had already had discussions about this. Looking at his leadership of the Polish Ombudsman’s office, we can safely assume that he planned his political career exactly a long time ago. Bodnar interacted with Civic Platform and the media of the liberal mainstream in propaganda – both in content and form. Although he should take the position of Polish law, he criticized the ban on abortion not for “lawlessness”, but for deviating from “international norms”. When he received the award for his public activity in Germany, he called on local politicians to be more active in raising issues in Poland. His deputy, Hanna Machińska, was actively involved in the Belarusian operation “Śluza”, not only keeping false information about immigrants in the infosphere, for example in Usnarz Górny, but also traveling to Brussels with these confabulations.
During his tenure, he received several foreign awards, completed his habilitation, and was hailed as a hero and the last bulwark of democracy by opposition supporters and mainstream journalists. You will also see that the seat in the Senate is becoming too small for him. His ambitions will reach much further and more than one state banner will become a rung on the ladder to his career held by political megalomania.
