On Tuesday evening, the head of the Ministry of National Defense Mariusz Błaszczak met with soldiers from the operational and territorial forces at the base in Jarylówka near Bobrowniki (Podlaskie Voivodeship), near the border with Belarus. On the day of the Polish Army, he thanked them for their service on this border.
Mariusz Błaszczak met the soldiers at an occasional open-air dinner. In addition to the meal prepared by the military kitchen, there were also bonfires for roasting sausages.
I came to thank you. When the parade took place in Warsaw (…), I said that I would come to you to thank you for your service, because the most important thing is what you are doing here, your service at the Polish-Belarusian border
he said.
He told the soldiers that “strong applause” was directed at them during the parade.
I want to thank you for the many people who came to the parade in Warsaw today (…). It’s Polish Army Day, so I couldn’t imagine not coming to wish you well
Blaszczak said.
He assured that the service of soldiers on the border with Belarus “is appreciated by our compatriots”.
People really appreciate you for this difficult service, these are the challenges you face (…). Thanks to your service, Poland is safe
– added the head of the Ministry of National Defense.
He stressed that his priority – as Minister of National Defense – is to increase the size of the Polish army.
We are raising new military units (…), the Polish army will number 300,000. soldiers and it is really real
– added. He repeated information about the purchase of armaments for the needs of the Polish army and cooperation within NATO.
The military base in Jarylówka is home to soldiers from the 12th Mechanized Brigade, the 1st Podlaska Territorial Defense Brigade and other TD brigades. “We have been supporting the border guard for more than 700 days. The first phase of the BG support operation took place from the moment the state of emergency was declared (in the border area with Belarus – PAP); lasted until the moment of Russian aggression in Ukraine,” said Capt. Łukasz Wilczewski, press officer of the 1st Podlaska OT Brigade.
He added that at the time, the WOT mainly had tasks in the depths of the border area and was concerned, among other things, with the detention of illegal migrants and couriers, ie drivers who come to collect these migrants.
In the second phase, ie from the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, we serve on a designated section on the Polish-Belarusian border. Unique is that there is no permanent dam on it due to the natural circumstances
said Capt. Wilczewski, preserving that the service there is non-stop and that this section is also secured.
