The Minister of Justice, Zbigniew Ziobro, has submitted a request to the President of the National Court Registry, Judge Dagmara Pawełczyk-Woicka, to immediately convene a meeting of the Council. The subject of the meeting is the ongoing politicization of the judiciary and the use of double standards therein, the Ministry of Justice announced on Monday.
Decisions are made with clear political motives. The number of acquittals or exceptionally lenient sentences is increasing, also for serious crimes committed with violence. This applies to aggressors from the opposition, left-wing and LGBT circles. The courts justify their attacks on people who hold opposing views. At the same time, it is easy to point to rulings in which the courts are harsh on adherents of traditional values, opponents of LGBT ideology and opposition critics, or the judges themselves.
— emphasized the Minister of Justice in the application to the President of the National Judicial Council.
As he noted, “this is a manifestation of double standards and a dangerous signal that politics has entered the courtrooms for good.”
The situation is illustrated by two telling events. On the one hand, the draconian sentencing of a young, unpunished student to 3 years absolute imprisonment for ripping out a handbag with the LGBT symbol. On the other hand, the courts guarantee the impunity of the perpetrator of the brutal attack and the beating of the driver of the pro-life organization’s van, stopping the proceedings

Judges serving LGBT and abortion communities
According to him, “politicized judges assume that since the opposition in Poland and the European Union support the LGBT community and abortion, those who disagree with such views can be insulted, pulled, beaten and their material goods stolen with impunity. damaged; when disproportionately less damage is suffered by the other party – then heavy punishments pour down and a thunderous condemnation rings out.
He added that the politicization of the law was a hallmark of totalitarian regimes.
The courts were harnessed to the machine of ideology and oppression. They condemned innocent people with “wrong” political views. In contrast, banditry and crime were often silenced if they were in line with the prevailing ideological goals at the time.
wrote the Minister of Justice.
He said there was no room for that in a democracy.
Judges should not use their sentences to incite crimes against the “right” victims and to guarantee impunity to the perpetrators. It is therefore necessary to depoliticize the courts through a major reform of the judiciary
– noted the head of MS.
For these reasons, I request that a meeting of the National Judicial Council be convened as the main constitutional body guaranteeing the independence of the courts and judges. There is no independence of the courts without separating them from politics. Likewise, there is no independence of judges if they cannot separate justice from their political views
– wrote the Minister of Justice Zbigniew Ziobro.
