“Tusk and his whole team manipulate their voters very much, so it is worth reaching out to these voters, respecting their political views, but still referring to what is most important for every Pole: security. Besides, for a citizen of any country, work, health, but above all safety, and again safety come first,” Beata Kempa, former head of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister of Poland, told the wPolityce.pl portal.

wPolityce.pl: Yesterday Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki announced a new referendum question on illegal migration. Why is it important for Poland to speak out on this issue?
Beata Kempa: Referendum questions on the whole migration issue are absolutely correct and important from the point of view of asking the opinion of all Poles on this issue. Because the problem of the effects of the migration policies of the Member States of the European Union is the problem of the whole Union. Today, the effects of the policies of Germany at the time, including the Swedes, the Dutch and the French, are borne by the communities of later countries of the European Union, and they are the ones who rebel against the effects of these naive policies . Today, it is these communities that are pressuring their governments and causing those who are in power now or were in government until recently to lose their support.
Hence, the EU hastily, one can say “on the knee”, formulates different types of solutions that should apply throughout the European Union. The Dublin agreements were such a solution: Dublin 1 and Dublin 2, but they were postponed, in fact, they were not implemented, they did not work. Today, they are invoked again in a certain version, because the effects, especially in terms of citizens’ sense of insecurity, are felt in many EU countries. An example of this is the recent, very dangerous and bloody events in France.
The declaration of the Poles in this regard should be a clear signal and a sure proof for every Polish government and a mandate to act against different kinds of forced solutions. An example of this is the forced relocation of refugees with a penalty clause if one of the countries did not take in a certain number of people.
We must realize that it is not just about accepting these people, because if we take into account the regulations, treaties or even family reunification, the number of people we would have to take in would be much higher, because the mechanism will start to work.
It should also be said that in the EU there is a so-called Return Directive, aimed at returning irregular migrants to their country of origin. The point is that it doesn’t work at all. For 140 thousand Only 20% of such decisions were successfully implemented last year. And the new regulations that the EU is preparing are completely unrealistic. For example, they assume that they are monitoring how such an illegal immigrant is doing in the country to which we have sent him back, which is completely impossible. This kind of bizarre regulation is currently being prepared.
United Right politicians, speaking of both yesterday’s and today’s referendum question, put a strong emphasis on the issue of security.
This question is of fundamental importance, as the security of the Poles is at stake first and foremost. We don’t want pictures and events like what happened in France a few weeks ago. We are a safe country and as such we appear not only in the EU, but also in the world, as a safe country, also in terms of tourism. And this gives us the opportunity for economic development, not only in tourism. A country that is safe is also safe when it comes to investing capital by foreign investors.
That is why we are interested in the security of our citizens in many ways.
It should be added that we are actually fueling this phenomenon by creating favorable conditions for migration. And this is what the European Union has been doing for years, contributing to yet another very dangerous phenomenon: the gigantic development of organized crime in the field of people smuggling, which has often led migrants to a very tragic fate.
Is there a risk that the future government, if the opposition wins, will want to pursue a different migration policy?
Conducted our responsible policy since 2015 – let me remind you that PiS President Jarosław Kaczyński predicted very clearly in a very important and very good speech (like in 2008 in Georgia his late brother President Lech Kaczyński in Georgia) what the development of events would in terms of Poland’s security, if Russia is not stopped) the effects this migration policy could have in many EU countries, and even more so in Poland.
We remember Donald Tusk, who scared us, all Poles, with a menacing face, without a trace of embarrassment and without any concern for the nation, who explained that these fines had to be paid. And we would have to pay for them with our own taxes. Tusk unknowingly submitted to this policy and it is easy to imagine that if he were to return to power he would absolutely implement the policy of open doors, open borders for migrants. Therefore, it is also necessary to refer to what the Poles think about it. This is definitely one of the most important areas for our security right now.
Today’s fourth question, formulated by Minister Błaszczak, is closely related to the third question. Would a politician who would seize power in the future dare to open this eastern border to migrants brought by Lukashenko and Putin in the current situation?
Many Poles, whom I know from talking to them in places where they live, work or rest, look with concern at what is currently happening on the eastern border and at the fact that migrants are being used as a kind of “weapon”.
That is why the dam and the fact that we want to ask the Poles what they think of this protection is also of fundamental importance. This is our security on the eastern side, ie the one where the ruthless war in Ukraine is currently taking place, and its extension is the hybrid operations on our border, which took place even before the outbreak of this war.
If we remember the statements of the leading politicians of the Civic Platform and the opposition in general, and what they were doing on the eastern border when this hybrid attack started, we had to think above all about securing this border and not encouraging more migrants to be So it was also a multiple operation. The main issue was the security of the Poles living on the eastern side of the country, but also of all of us, because it is not only the protection of the Polish borders, but also of the EU.
I believe that absolutely, both in terms of migration policy, ie forced relocation, and the fact that they want to open up to the east, they will be a “reset bis” – both in terms of policies towards Russia and Belarus.
This is dangerous, because the current actions of Moscow and Minsk are unpredictable – we can see, for example, after today’s reports about the attempts of the next installment of the hybrid war – the recruitment of Poles for the Wagner group. This is already a hybrid operation within our country and proves that safety must be our priority.
Tusk and his whole team manipulate their voters very much, so it is worth reaching out to these voters, respecting their political views, but still referring to what is most important for every Pole: security. In any case, for a citizen of any country, work, health, but above all safety and again safety come first.
Isn’t it a bit true that for almost every Pole the answer to most or even all referendum questions is obvious?
I think so, but it is important that our citizens have their say. This will send a clear signal to EU leaders that no decisions can be taken against citizens of Member States. Because people who live in a ‘bubble’ make up rules that then have to apply to everyone or that have to be adopted by a simple majority. And here again the issue of the imminent right of veto of the Member States arises. If threatened, EU officials will even be able to decide on our eastern borders, and thus – not just migration from the east, but also migration-generating countries in Africa and the Middle East.
In fact, all four questions are extremely important from the point of view of Polish security, both internally and externally, but also economically. Because when we look at the question regarding the retirement age, we remember that Donald Tusk and his team, without asking anyone’s permission, dramatically increased the retirement age. I think they could do it again because that’s what the EU will demand of them. Donald Tusk is reliable with the EU and he did a reset with Russia. He has already shown how it works and from the point of view of economic security and the comfort of life of the Poles, for Tusk and other liberals the only value is money and the free market. And for us, however, a man and a family, and for everyone, it should be clear and obvious.
Our society was very heavily exploited by the commune, including physically, no attention was paid to issues related to, for example, preventive health care. And today, instead of enjoying the joy of aging when you can rest after many years of work, many people need to restore their health. And we want seniors to be fully fit, able to chase their dreams, help their children with their grandchildren, travel, enjoy the benefits of their work, with the support of the 13th and 14th pensions. It’s a beautiful autumn of life and I believe the referendum raises very good questions, referring to security in every dimension.
Thank you very much for the interview.
