Joanna Scheuring-Wielgus in an interview for “Krytyka Polityczna” did not spare bitter words about Donald Tusk: “I entered politics, let me remind you, 8 years ago, not through the rule of Law and Justice, but through the rule of the Civic Platform.”
The MP of the Left scores PO
The MP from the left stated flatly that “the June 4 march clearly showed that the opposition had lost”. She pointed out that some groups steal the ideas of the left, but “only to create empty slogans or statements, because in reality they won’t do anything about it”. She added that for PO and PiS, “pumping polarization is useful.”
I entered politics, let me remind you, 8 years ago, not through the rule of Law and Justice, but through the rule of Platforma Obywatelska
– said Scheuring-Wielgus.
When asked what made her so “angry”, the member from the left replied:
The PO promised many things when PiS took power in 2007, but failed to deliver. I voted for them at the time and was disappointed that they did not abolish the church fund or introduce civil unions. It means they misled voters and voters. What guarantees do I now have that the PO will actually introduce legal abortion up to 12 weeks?
Scheuring-Wielgus also spoke about the lack of consistency regarding the announcement that opponents of the killing of unborn children will not be included on KO electoral lists.
Civic Platform has not signed or submitted anything, these are just statements. And explanations are not enough
she said.
Critique of the October 1 march
Scheuring-Wielgus also spared no words for criticism of the march announced by Donald Tusk on 1 October. As she noted, the march in defense of women’s rights has already taken place in Krakow and has been attended by members of the left. According to her, the march on October 1 will be “about everything.”
I no longer believe politicians who only proclaim. Actions must follow words. (…) We are fighting for very high stakes and you cannot be a coward in this election campaign. The statement should be followed by specifics because after the election you need to act quickly and not think about how to write it and then execute it
– said the politician from the left.
Joint opposition list
Scheuring-Wielgus also pointed to the issue of a joint opposition list. She stressed that talking about voting for a stronger party and not a weaker party will end in defeat for the entire opposition. She also added that she herself was concerned “whether Civic Platform would make some kind of agreement with the Confederacy” – she indicated such voices came from KO circles.
It seems that the opposition has no intention of uniting under the banner of Donald Tusk, who is not credible even to them…
