Poland accuses Russia and Belarus of migrant flow

Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki in an interview with an Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera Noting that 16 thousand illegal attempts to cross the eastern border were recorded in the country during the year, he blamed Russia and Belarus for this situation.

He noted that Poland has been “under attack on its eastern border with Belarus” for the past two years.

“This is the joint plan of the Russian Federation and Belarus, which is trying to destabilize not only our country, but the entire European Union. “They cynically used immigrants to attack the country’s security structures and disrupt the unity of European allies,” he said.

Morawiecki described attempts to cross the Polish border illegally as “a threat to the state”.

“It is our priority to ensure the security of Poland’s eastern border, which is actually the outer border of the European Union and NATO,” the Polish prime minister said.

On 12 August, the Polish border guards applied Water cannon to migrants trying to cross the border.
