“Thanks to the referendum, the public debate will be about the most important issues for the country,” said Elżbieta Rafalska in an interview with the wPolityce.pl portal.
Vice President of Law and Justice Beata Szydło announced the content of the next referendum question. It says, “Do you support raising the retirement age to 60 for women and 65 for men?”
We asked Elżbieta Rafalska, PiS MEP, for her opinion on this.
This is a very important question. Raising the retirement age by Donald Tusk’s team was one of the biggest political frauds. The campaign ensured that nothing would change, after which the retirement age was raised. And very seriously. Many do not remember, but in the case of peasant women it was 12 years
– says the former Minister of Family, Labor and Social Policy in an interview with the wPolityce.pl portal.
This issue concerns us all and thanks to the referendum, every Pole will be able to decide whether to guarantee the retirement age for women at 60 and for men at 65.
– adds Elzbieta Rafalska.
According to Rafalska, the PO would not respect the result of the referendum if it came to power.
Although I still do not believe that the referendum commitment will be binding on the eventual PO government with its coalition partners. The OP will always find a reason to work around it. And their economic advisers emphasize that we have the lowest retirement age in Europe and they look for a gap in the whole
– he says in an interview with wPolityce.pl.
The MEP also referred to efforts to discourage Poland from the referendum being carried out by opposition politicians and the media who support them.
An absurd idea. It is simply unbelievable that those who complain in Brussels about the lack of rule of law in Poland and supposedly defend democracy, try to attack such a democratic act as a referendum. I would understand if they urged people to vote for raising the retirement age, for example. They have the right to conduct an information campaign and express their views. But urging people not to vote on such a fundamental issue? Who doesn’t appreciate democracy here? They want to deprive people of their right to vote. It’s not in my head
says Rafałska.
The election campaign is going to be very interesting. Thanks to the referendum, the public debate will focus on the most important issues for the country. Finally, the political sandbox that Donald Tusk and his team have been digging in is coming to an end. They will have to put their shoulder blades down and deal with serious topics
he adds.
