Ukraine is openly playing for a change of government in Poland in recent speeches. They think the return of the PO will lead to even more disinterested behavior towards Kiev and submission to German policies, said former foreign minister Witold Waszczykowski in an interview for Wprost.pl on Wednesday.
Certain elements of competition (between Poland and Ukraine – PAP) should appear, especially when Ukraine joins the European Union. Despite various cooperation mechanisms, the Union is not a club of altruists and everyone in it pursues its own interests
– explained Witold Waszczykowski in an interview for Wprost.pl.

He pointed out that “until this happens, Poland will be the patron of Kiev’s integration efforts, because we don’t want to be neighbors of a war zone, but of a friendly and developing country.”
All the more we do not want to be neighbors of Russia, which wants to occupy Ukraine,” he stressed. “However, some misunderstandings may arise during accession. It is a natural clash of conflicting priorities of sovereign states
– judged the former head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
When asked if Kiev “treats Poland’s support in an instrumental and unilateral way,” Waszczykowski said:
I believe that Ukraine, among many others, has three problems in its relations with Poland. “First of all, he doesn’t understand how the EU works – I have countless examples of that when I meet them in Brussels or Strasbourg. They are not very good at reading the games between the European institutions – the numerous clashes of ideologies
he explained.
Second, Ukraine has clearly bet on Germany in its European security architecture
he said.
What are they counting on?
They believe that Berlin, with the support of the American democratic government, will decide the shape of the Union and security policy, beyond Warsaw
said the former foreign minister.
He pointed out that “thirdly, in recent speeches, Ukraine has openly played for a change of government in Poland.”
They believe that the return of the PO will lead to even more disinterested behavior towards Kiev and submission to German policies
said Waszczykowski.
