US Secretary of State Anthony Blinkens had a phone call with the ousted President of Niger, Mohammed Bazum, on August 8, during which they discussed the visit of Acting Secretary of State Victoria Nuland to the country’s capital. It has been reported US Department of State.
“They discussed Deputy Under-Secretary Nuland’s recent visit to Niamey, and the Secretary of State conveyed the continued support of the United States for a resolution that would restore the democratic and constitutional order in Niger,” the agency said in a statement.
Blinken also stressed that the safety of President Bazum and his family is of paramount importance.
