What is at stake in the 23rd general election?
We play the model of Spain we want. Not all political options advocate the same country and European model. What the PSOE has shown in Government is that there is a guarantee of protection in the face of adversity. As one of the countries that dedicates the most resources to recovery, we set an example in the response to the pandemic. This year we exceed all economic forecasts. The needs of the people were met and all families were helped.
What do you mean when you say that not all political options stand for the same thing?
PP is obsessed with achieving power. He voted against all progress without taking into account that we are experiencing a pandemic and war in Ukraine. And now they agree to deny the rights of women and the LGTBI collective. They take away the minutes of silence and call domestic violence gender violence. They deny that there is machismo that continues to cause sexist murders that are condemned in society. I hope people realize this when they vote on the 23rd.
At the Cortes this week, Vox, including the President, stepped back to protest another sexist crime…
Deals with political options that reject gender-based violence do a lot of damage to institutions. We are going backwards in the struggles that have made progress. That’s why it’s so important that 23J puts an end to what’s happening, for example, in the Community of Valencia. The refusal of a representative of an institution to condemn a sexist murder is unacceptable in any democracy.
What do you think when you hear that Sanchismo should be repealed?
Sanchismo raise the minimum wage, protect people from hardship, minimum living income, lower taxes for people with less, tax energy companies and banks, labor reform… All this they want to abolish. All the right does is humiliate, disqualify and confront people. Sánchez used all his time to achieve improvements for the population.
Which direction should social progress go?
All established baselines need to be developed and implemented. PSOE has shown that it is a country project with a present and moving towards a better future. The main axes are combating inequality, social and regional cohesion, combating climate change and digitalization. Spain is one of the most connected countries in the world. Starting from the 23rd, we must continue to walk along these axes by developing a country project that we embody.
After January 23, the pacts will play a key role, what is the position of the socialists on this issue?
What matters is not who you deal with, but what you do for it. The Right agrees to take us away by jeopardizing our vested rights. We have accepted these years to find a better job, to take care of people in the face of difficulties, to protect families… PSOE has shown what its project is through work reform, minimum wage, paternity rights or advancement in promotion. renewable energy
One of the most worrying issues in Alicante prefecture is water…
More water was transferred by PSOE than by PP. For example, nothing was transferred for months in 2017. The faucet was turned off and absolutely nothing happened here. The drought has conditioned us so much, this is a challenge that we have to face and work on. PP does not make a water policy, on the contrary, it uses it as a tool to strike. The government has worked very well on water with the necessary infrastructures guaranteeing the transfer alternative.
Another burning issue is infrastructure, what do you think about it?
Investments approved for the state have a much larger budget, according to Rajoy. We made progress after the inherited state. In infrastructures, there are important issues to be highlighted, such as the liberalization of AP-7, whose concession has been extended by the PP, or the Mediterranean Corridor studies, where 100 percent of the reports have been completed. 50% will be realized by the end of this year.
How do you explain that the province is the last in investment?
State Budgets provides a snapshot of what can be done in a year, so it depends on the starting point. The province already has some infrastructures that others do not have. Socialist deputies were at the forefront of the province’s demands. The important thing is planning, even a euro appears in the budgets. It should also be noted that much of the investment in the Mediterranean Corridor that benefits Alicante is reflected in the province of Valencia.
With all this, what is your prediction for the surveys?
Until the 21st, we will work to convey to the public what we have done in such difficult times and what we want to do for the future. It’s up to you to decide whether you want to go forward or backward. Our political project is transparent. Other options don’t know what they’re defending beyond attacks. I hope, miss and wish to win the election.
