The Moscow City Election Commission (MGIK) has registered four more candidates for the election of the mayor of the capital. The decision was announced at the committee meeting.
These were Dmitry Gusev of the Fair Russia – Truth Party, Vladislav Davankov of the New People, Leonid Zyuganov of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation and Boris Chernyshov of the LDPR party. The decision on all participants in the future elections was taken at the meeting of the commission.
Previously, candidates had submitted the signatures of municipal deputies in support of their candidacy.
A total of 12 people, 6 of whom were nominated, were nominated for mayor.
Earlier in the week, the IPCC registered incumbent mayor Sergei Sobyanin as a candidate for the Moscow mayoral election. In 2010, Sobyanin was appointed to this post and subsequently re-elected twice: in 2013 and 2018, both as an independent candidate.
The Moscow mayoral election will be held on 10 September on a single voting day. The mayor of the capital is elected for a five-year term.
