PO chairman Donald Tusk posted a video on Twitter accusing PiS of accepting many immigrants from Arab and African countries. He noted that Poland should have control over its borders. “Donald Tusk is aware that the recent decisions of the European Council, EPP announcements and all kinds of pressure on Poland regarding the need to accept immigrants are all unacceptable to the majority of Poles” – commented the words of Tusk in an interview with the wPolityce.pl portal, Prof. . Arkadiusz Jabłoński, sociologist from the KUL.
Tusk cannot directly attack those CoE decisions, so he evades trying to shift the responsibility to PiS, saying that these EU expectations are nothing compared to what PiS has been doing for a long time by importing many thousands of immigrants. Tusk tries to smooth out the differences between a legal worker who comes to Poland to fulfill a contract and an immigrant who has crossed the border illegally. In this way he wants to show that we already have this problem and that agreeing to the migration pact would therefore not change much. Added to this is the story that the EU does not expect Poland to participate in the migration pact due to the acceptance of refugees from Ukraine – this is Donald Tusk’s game
he makes clear Prof. Arkadiusz Jablonski.
“This is the narrative confusion of Donald Tusk”
This narrative confusion of Donald Tusk stems from the fact that he wants at all costs to weaken the Poles’ fear of the influx of illegal immigrants for the duration of the election campaign and to shift the responsibility in this matter to PiS
says the sociologist.
When asked if the PO chairman is concerned that the issue of the migration pact may weaken KO’s ratings and increase PiS’s ratings, he replies:
Yes, he is definitely afraid of that. When it comes to fighting for the votes of undecided voters, the election of politicians who are credible in terms of limiting the influx of illegal migration to Poland can be very important, especially in the context of the riots taking place in France, but also events like Sweden. These are the fears that affect people today much more than the fears related to climate issues or even inflation.
“PO acted in line with EU recommendations”
According to a survey conducted by the Social Changes portal for the wPolityce.pl portal, 52 percent of Poles believe that the PO would agree to the migration pact if it won the elections. However, only 22 percent are of the opposite opinion (the rest of the respondents chose the answer “hard to say”).

A large percentage of Poles recall that during the first attempts to relocate migrants in 2014-2015, the PO acted in accordance with EU recommendations, and later Donald Tusk, when he was President of the European Council, constantly challenged the Polish authorities that they would suffer the consequences if they did not agree to participate in the relocation of immigrants. If Tusk believed that, then most Poles have the right to believe that he is currently adopting campaign tones in his statements, and when it comes down to it, he will again speak the language that necessarily flows from EU solidarity
