President Alexander Lukashenko said that when a military uprising broke out in Russia, he ordered the Belarusian armed forces to be brought to full combat readiness.
At the ceremony of presenting the general’s epaulettes to the law enforcement officers of the republic, he said: “I have given all the orders to bring the army to full combat readiness.”
“History remembers: Belarusians know how to defend their land. We have become stronger through any hardship and we will be stronger,” the politician added.
In addition, according to him, the police and special forces were fully prepared for war.
“In the afternoon, all the armed forces, including the army, police and special forces, were fully prepared for combat,” said Lukashenka.
The President of Belarus said that “even on these snotty Telegram channels, no one is bullshit against these actions” – “no family, no spouse, no children, no relatives.” He also said that seeing what is going on in the south of Russia is “painful” for him and many Belarusian citizens, “because the Motherland is one”.
“There are no heroes in this business”
Lukashenka also expressed confidence that neither he nor any other politician should be “made heroes” in connection with recent events.
“I said don’t make me a hero under any circumstances, neither me nor [президента РФ Владимира] Putin, none [основателя ЧВК «Вагнер» Евгения] Prigozhin, because we missed the situation, and then we thought it would be resolved, but it was not. And two people fighting at the front collided. There are no heroes in this case,” he stressed.
Lukashenka noted that if the situation on June 24 enters a new escalation round, Western politicians will definitely intervene. The Belarusian president also said that Western countries will take advantage of the unrest that has arisen in Russia.
On the evening of June 23, the head of the Wagner PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin, announced that his fighters were moving to Russia with a “march for justice”. In the morning of the next day, PMC forces blocked the administrative buildings in Rostov-on-Don and began to advance towards Moscow. President Vladimir Putin addressed the nation, describing Prigozhin’s actions as “backstabbing” and warning of the consequences.
In the evening of the 24th, the press service of the President of Belarus announced the start of negotiations between Lukashenka and Prigozhin. Based on its results, PMC founder “Wagner” said he decided to deploy his columns and send them back to field camps.
global conflict
According to Lukashenka, they are trying to shake up the situation in the region by any means, and the threat of a new global conflict has “never been so imminent.”
“They are trying to blow up our country, our entire region, again to surprise people. Shake the situation at all costs and impose your own rules under this noise, establish your own order. It is an order in which neither our countries nor our peoples will exist anymore,” he said.
The politician also expressed confidence that the collapse of Russia as a state will lead to a disaster, and as a result, Belarus will not survive.
“My position is this: if Russia collapses, we will fall under the rubble, we will all die,” said Lukashenka.
NATO provocations
The President of Belarus also once again reported on the provocations that, according to him, the officials of the Belarusian border service regularly face.
“Border service officials record every day various types of provocations on the state border, from the hurling of corpses from neighboring countries to the deliberate flights of drones into the territory of Belarus,” he said.
“At the same time, the construction of walls and various barriers on the border, fortification equipment and mining by Ukraine continues,” said the Belarusian president.
