We strongly reject any attempts to impose a mandatory relocation mechanism; we do not intend to bear the cost of German mistakes made in migration policy, nor do we support such harmful ideas pushed through Berlin, said EU Minister Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk, responding to Olaf Scholz’s statement.
Scholz on Migrants and the Relief of Germany
In a government statement ahead of next week’s EU summit, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Thursday defended plans for asylum procedures at the EU’s external borders.
“This is a historic agreement as it shows that the EU can overcome differences of opinion on even the most controversial issues.”
Scholz said this on Thursday in the Bundestag.
“Germany will also be relieved by such a new and fair system, as we have been the main destination of largely uncontrolled internal migration in the Schengen area until now.
emphasized the chancellor. Scholz also pleaded for an agreement with the EP for next year’s European elections.
CHECK DETAILS: And everything is clear! Scholz opens: The migration pact will relieve Germany. Until now, we have been the main target of uncontrolled migration
“We will not bear the cost of German mistakes.”
EU Affairs Minister Szymon Szynkowski, aka Sęk when asked by PAP about Scholz’s statement, he stressed that the existing agreement on migration issues are the conclusions of the June 2018 European Council, which “made it clear that the relocation mechanism can only be voluntary”.
This ended the then ill-fated attempt to force relocation by force. Attempts to violate this agreement undermine trust between Member States and have nothing to do with the principle of solidarity
emphasized the minister.
We strongly oppose it, just as we strongly reject any attempts to impose a mandatory relocation mechanism. We do not intend to bear the cost of German mistakes, including those made in migration policy, nor do we intend to support such harmful ideas pushed by Berlin
– said Szynkowski aka Sek.
Migration Pact
The interior ministers of the EU countries have adopted a negotiating position on the reform of migration rules in the EU. This position will form the basis for negotiations between the Council Presidency and the European Parliament. Poland and Hungary voted against support for the so-called migration pact. so-called The Migration Pact includes the system of “compulsory solidarity”. It means that while “no Member State will ever be obliged to relocate”, “an annual minimum number of relocations will be set from the Member States from which most people enter the EU to Member States less exposed to such arrivals”.
This number was set at 30,000.
“The minimum number of financial contributions per year is set at 20,000. euros for moving. These numbers can be increased if necessary and situations where there is no need for solidarity in a given year are also taken into account.”
– we read in the communiqué of the EU Council. In fact, as a senior EU diplomat who took part in the negotiations explained to PAP, this means a choice between the relocation of migrants and a financial counterpart in the event of a lack of willingness to take them in.
Last week, the Sejm passed a resolution expressing opposition to the EU’s mechanism for the relocation of illegal migrants, which commits the government to vigorously oppose the proposal. The PiS president, Deputy Prime Minister Jarosław Kaczyński then declared in the Sejm that the issue of relocation of migrants in the European Union should be the subject of a referendum.
