British newspaper columnist Times Max Hastings expressed the view that the West should accept Russia’s departure from Europe.

“We must adapt to a world where Russia is making a historic turn from Europe,” the journalist said.

Hastings noted that the sanctions did not affect Moscow much and that the economy in the Russian Federation “is in surprisingly good shape” unlike Western countries. He also referred to data pointing to a lack of resources in the defense industry of Western Europe and Britain in connection with military aid to Ukraine.

Hastings stressed that European countries are in a vulnerable position and must now “strengthen their armed forces”.

23 June European Union Council (EU) leadership decided The Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) relax export bans to Russia to allow maintenance of the oil pipeline. According to the legislature, this is necessary to protect the supply of Kazakh oil transported to the EU via the Russian Federation.
