Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan stated that the current emblem of the republic has nothing to do with the state established in 1991. He made such a statement at the National Assembly meeting. Quoted by that agency “News-Armenia”.
The current emblem was adopted by the Supreme Council of Armenia on April 19, 1992 and was clarified by the law of June 15, 2006.
As the head of the Armenian Cabinet pointed out, the coat of arms of the republic depicts Ararat with Noah’s Ark on it and the coat of arms of the four dynasties of Armenia. According to him, the coat of arms of the republic is not very connected with the state of Armenia.
When I looked at the emblem, I had a question: what does it have to do with us? After all, we agreed in 1991. What does it have to do with the state established in 1991? What is this man talking about?” said the prime minister.
He stated that in the middle of the coat of arms you can see Noah’s Ark on Mount Ararat and the flooded lands of Armenia.
Pashinyan also pointed out that the emblem depicts a lion that “has not lived in the natural conditions of Armenia for a long time”.
“And this issue we’re discussing is actually about duality. And it’s inside each of us,” the prime minister added.
May 22 Pashinyan reportedThat 86.6 thousand square kilometers of Azerbaijani territory, which is ready to be recognized by the Armenian authorities, also includes Nagorno-Karabakh.
On May 17, he stated that Armenia and Azerbaijan would recognize each other’s territorial integrity within the borders of the days when the republics were part of the USSR.
