According to Euractiv, Kurti’s plan includes five items, which include restoring law and order in northern Kosovo, the withdrawal of groups perpetrating violence against government officials from the unrecognized republic’s territory, and the introduction of joint security assessments between the two countries. the regional police, the EU and NATO, the announcement of early elections in the municipalities in the north and the return of Pristina and Belgrade to dialogue with the mediation of Brussels.
Borrell’s office has already confirmed receipt of the letter and promised to respond to Kosovo through the appropriate channels. As EU Foreign Service representative Peter Stano told Euractiv, Brussels has so far seen no real steps from Pristina to defuse the situation.
“Recent events in northern Kosovo only prove that escalation is still going on, and this is against the interests of Kosovo and the entire Kosovo people,” Stano said.
