The Sejm received a presidential bill establishing the framework for cooperation between the President, Government, Sejm and Senate in the context of Poland presiding over the work of the EU Council. Poland will fill this position in the first half of 2025.
The submission of the project was announced on Tuesday by President Andrzej Duda in a televised address. He emphasized that with this initiative he wants to prove that the entire political class can work together harmoniously on issues that are of the utmost importance to Poland.

The President recalled that on May 1, 2023, on the anniversary of Poland’s accession to the EU, he presented three objectives of the Polish Presidency together with Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki: deepening transatlantic cooperation and strengthening relations between the EU and the United States; further enlargement of the EU to Ukraine, Moldova and the Western Balkans, and in the future other countries seeking to join the EU, and strengthening Europe’s energy security.
These are ambitious tasks and achieving them requires close cooperation between the President, the Government, the Sejm and the Senate. Therefore, tomorrow I will be submitting a bill that will define the framework of this cooperation in the context of the Polish presidency of the work of the Council of the European Union. I would like this initiative to prove that the entire political class can work together harmoniously on issues that are of the utmost importance to Poland

He added that “this is an important test for all political forces, a test of whether they are willing to work together to achieve our goals in the EU.”
