“Please remember how numerous were the demonstrations organized by the Women’s Strike. And what came of it? You don’t get electricity on the street. Elections are coming and the ballot paper decides. And I am convinced that people will make a good choice,” said Adam Borowski, an oppositionist at the time of the Polish People’s Republic, in an interview with the wPoltyce.pl portal.
wPolityce.pl: You were attacked by participants in the March 4 of June. Under what circumstances did this happen?
Adam Borowski: I was attacked while giving an interview to public television. It was on Plac Powstańców near TVP headquarters. A branch of the march passed in that direction, because he himself passed Nowy Świat.
I was attacked in a very vulgar way and at the same time I was called “cultures ku … a”. I answered calmly, which probably made the men even more nervous. I explained to these people that they want a democracy that takes away my right to speak, takes away my constitutional rights.
The grim joke was that one of the men called you a “communist”.
This shows that these people have no idea what communism was, what bolshevism was. These concepts are completely foreign to them. It’s pure hate. These people have no rational arguments. Even if they want to take away my rights.
I even publicly asked Władysław Frasyniuk, what does the password behind these eight stars mean in practice? What’s behind this vulgar slogan “Eat PiS”? Does that mean you have to kill me? After all, the existence of this or that party, or the presence of this or that politician is not a problem. They come and go. The point is that they are our representatives. It is the voters of Law and Justice who appoint them to represent their interests. According to the people who attacked me, I can’t vote for the people I want. For them, democracy is when I vote for the opposition. And what to do with 10 million people who vote for Law and Justice? How to destroy them?
I saw a family on the march holding a banner with the slogan “Let’s respect democracy”. But what does this banner have to do with this march? I personally agree with this slogan. I could not only walk under it from Plac na Rozdrożu to Plac Zamkowy, but even to Częstochowa. Only the content of this demonstration, dominated by the slogan “eight stars”, where one of the participants boasted on her banner that she “shoots ducks very well”, completely eludes it. After all, this is an open call for the physical elimination of political opponents.

On the one hand, we received vulgar messages from Andrzej Seweryn and Władysław Frasyniuk, and on the other, Donald Tusk said that “there is no Poland without love, solidarity and freedom.” Doesn’t that rule it out?
The best example is the words of Władysław Frasyniuk, who on the one hand says that “builds consent” and adds after a comma “we overthrow this che…e”. Should I be eliminated? So I asked him a question: will you eliminate me? A cellmate? And how did I deserve it? That I don’t share your opinion? Who is closer to the Bolsheviks: am I, who gives Władysław Frasyniuk the right to keep his opinion, or am I, who deprives me of these rights?
TV reporter wPolsce.pl Maciej Zemła spoke to a man who came to the march with a banner depicting Jarosław Kaczyński wearing a Nazi moustache. When asked about the banner, he replied that “Hitler rules us.” How to explain it? It’s hard to believe that this man may not have known who Hitler was. Where does he see the resemblance?
Has this man read at least one book? I think so and that he knows well what Adolf Hitler was doing. Only hatred prevents him from thinking rationally. Just. Hatred poisons the minds and hearts of such people. What does Jarosław Kaczyński have to do with Hitler? Nothing. But it is hatred that drives this man to make such comparisons. It’s pure hate.

Perhaps worst of all, this hatred is passed on from adults to young people, often even their children. We saw a shocking video of a group of kids chanting the slogan “PiS to hell”. Shocking and sad picture.
What mother who receives 500 plus every month, and from January 1 it will be 800, who receives all kinds of help in the form of various diapers, teaches children to shout such slogans? After all, these children are innocent, they have no idea what they are talking about, they are being manipulated by their parents. Fortunately, there were few children. We believe that this is not common practice. Unfortunately, these are sad pictures.
After the attack on you, you said that “the example comes from above”. In your opinion, Donald Tusk and the Civic Platform are “green-lighting” such behavior?
This permission has been around for years. Since 2005, when the PO-PiS government was not yet formed. From the moment the aspirations of Donald Tusk, who lost the presidential election and his party lost the parliamentary election, were offended.
Tusk always carried several triggers with him. Suffice it to mention here, for example, Janusz Palikot, who offended and offended the late President Lech Kaczyński. It had Radosław Sikorski and later president Bronisław Komorowski. I have no doubt that Tusk can stop Palikot’s hatred with one move. But he never did. Today I can’t stand it alone. Moreover, he tolerates vulgar statements like those of Andrzej Seweryn. He doesn’t judge them. Bear in mind that no one from the opposition has ever condemned the attacks on the parliamentary offices of Law and Justice politicians. Some MEPs said they do not condone such behaviour, but “understand the anger”. Anyway, Rafał Trzaskowski spoke about this “anger” during the march. They tolerate it because it suits them, because they want to intimidate the PiS voters. I often get asked if I’m not afraid? Of course I’m scared because the communists didn’t break me let alone them? But this is just not good for Poland. Because if it was a dispute about values, about the direction of development, and we exchanged arguments, then people could decide. In this case, however, hatred is fueled to cloud the mind, which cannot think logically.
In your opinion, will this march bring wind to the opposition’s sails? 500 thousand there were no people, but it cannot be denied that it was still very numerous. You can talk about the success of the opposition.
I do not believe that. Please remember how numerous were the demonstrations organized by the Women’s Strike. And what about this? You don’t get electricity on the street. Elections are coming and the ballot paper decides. And I deeply believe that people will choose well. To me, “good” means they will vote for the United Right. But as Jacek Kaczmarski sang, “everyone has the right to choose the wrong one”. You can’t be better to people than they want to be to themselves. If they do not want to appreciate the great help they received from the state, if they do not want to notice the changes that have taken place in Poland, the investments that have already been made and are still being made, what to do? They will choose wrong.
They are entitled to it.
Yes, they have the right to do that.
