“Without the participation of the opposition, the Committee on Russian Influence can be seen as a neighborhood court,” Kukiz’15-Dmocracy Direct MP Jarosław Sachajko told the PAP Studio on Thursday. According to him, individual ministries should release documents proving Russian influence in Poland. MP Sachajko also spoke about the future agreement with PiS that “it will be signed in a week or two”.
On Monday, President Andrzej Duda announced the signing of the law establishing a commission to investigate Russian influence on the internal security of the Republic of Poland in the years 2007-2022. He added that he would refer the bill to the Constitutional Tribunal in subsequent proceedings. The law was published Tuesday in the Journal of Laws; entered into force on Wednesday.
Opposition allegations
The law has been criticized by opposition groups, according to which it is unconstitutional and contrary to the principles of a democratic state under the rule of law. The opposition announced that it would not nominate its representatives to the committee.
Paweł Kukiz told PAP on Wednesday that “if the entire opposition boycotts the committee, and only PiS and the United Right camp are allowed to put forward their candidates, he will not take part in the vote.”
I can’t imagine just one side judging the other side
– added.
Sachajko: I will act like Paweł Kukiz in the committee
On Thursday, the PAP asked Studio Kukiz’15 MP Jarosław Sachajko about this statement, who said his group feared that the Commission to Investigate Russian Influences in this form could be perceived as a “murder court”.
I also intend to behave in the same way (as Paweł Kukiz-15). It’s not about getting people out on the streets, that this committee is seen as a court, that there are riots in Poland and that it gives political fuel to the opposition and that we have problems in the EU
said Sachaiko.
“Ministries must release documents proving Russian influence in Poland
According to him, individual ministries should release documents proving Russian influence in Poland.
As Kukiz’15, we voted in favor of this committee because we believe these matters should be clarified, but if the opposition does not want to participate in this, individual ministries should declassify individual documents and make them public. (…) Show the Poles the caliber of these documents
emphasized the MP. He added that the opposition will then have to explain why such scandalous decisions were made.
Let us explain why no base was established in Poland (in Redzikowo), why the PO-PSL government did not buy twelve Patriot batteries in 2011 for 10 percent of their value, why military units in eastern Poland were liquidated and why a defense doctrine on the Vistula, in which half of Poland would be given to the Ruthenians and we would defend ourselves in the other part of Poland. Why was there an attempt to take electricity from the power station in Königsberg, (…) or why were the PKW in Moscow taught how to hold elections
said the politician.
The opposition has unleashed a dispute in which the other parties are not allowed to participate
According to him, the opposition has unleashed a dispute in which other parties should not participate.
It is necessary to explain (the question of Russian influence – PAP) in such a way as not to give the impression that the opposition is being lynched in Poland, because this is not happening. But truth is one thing, and social perception is another. We would not want the United Right to lose the upcoming election because of poor social reception
said Sachaiko.
Agree with PiS “in a week or two”
Jarosław Sachajko, who asked in the PAP Studio on Thursday whether the signing of the agreement with Law and Justice is certain, answered in the affirmative.
All you need to do is reach an agreement and formally sign it, there are no major problems
he assured.
Another week or two and then the agreement will be signed
– he said, adding that only the details remained to be discussed.
“Let’s say out loud what we want
Let’s say what we expect. We don’t want to sign an agreement for the sake of the agreement, but an agreement that will be executed in the first hundred days of the next term. There are details we need to determine, for example, whether it is legal for citizens to elect the chief constable in their city, or whether it is only possible to elect the chief constable of the municipal guard for now
– he said.
When asked if it was just details or if there were fundamental issues on the way to formalizing the collaboration, he denied, pointing out that “PiS has fulfilled all the program agreements made a year and a half ago.” At the same time, he recalled that accounts critical to his party continue to be blocked by Sovereign Poland. This mainly concerns the provisions on local referenda and the bill on justices of the peace.
The problem is the accounts blocked by Sovereign Poland
I assume these are pre-election dances. Sovereign Poland wants as many seats as possible on the PiS lists and they take many unethical steps. They actually vote against all our solutions. (…) They try to fight us with PiS, but they can’t and I hope they shake off this political battle
– he said.
According to him, Sovereign Poland behaves similarly to Donald Tusk.
She is not keeping her pre-election promises, and she had many
Sakhaiko emphasized.
In 2013, at the election convention, they said local referendums should be strengthened. They vote against justices of the peace, and Ziobro said at a conference two years ago that they support justices of the peace
summed up the politician.
Conversations with Sovereign Poland
When asked if talks are being held with Sovereign Poland to reach a compromise, he said that he tried to talk to politicians of this party during every session of the Sejm and asked for meetings between Zbigniew Ziobro and Paweł Kukiz. “(It is important that we) see that the enemy is elsewhere – on the side of the opposition, which does not want Poland’s subjectivity,” he said.
“Yesterday I spoke with another SP politician. He must answer me on Friday whether such a meeting (of the leaders) will take place and whether we will go as a broad coalition,” he said.
Russian Influence Commission
On April 14, the Sejm passed the law establishing a commission to investigate Russian influence. They started setting it up in December last year. PiS Delegates. They pointed out that on May 11 this year, the commission will function under principles similar to the functioning of the Warsaw reprivatization verification commission. The Senate passed a resolution to reject the bill establishing this committee. On Friday, the Sejm voted against the Senate resolution.
The Commission must analyze official activities, create, duplicate, share information with third parties; influencing the content of board decisions; making harmful decisions; making advance directives on behalf of a government agency or company; entering into contracts or disposing of public or corporate funds.
Decisions that may be taken by the committee include: revoking an administrative decision issued as a result of Russian influence, issuing a ban on performing functions related to having public funds for a maximum period of 10 years, and the revocation and prohibition of the security clearance for 10 years.
