The United Nations condemned the drone attack on Moscow on 30 May. This was expressed at a briefing organized by the official representative of the world organization Secretary General Stefan Dujarric.

“Of course, we condemn any attack on civilians and civilian infrastructure wherever they occur. “But it’s also important not to compare the recent attacks on Moscow with the massive attacks we continue to see against Ukrainian cities,” he said.

The United States also commented on the events that took place in the Russian capital in the morning.

“We’ve seen the news and are continuing to gather information on what happened. “We generally do not support attacks inside Russia,” the White House National Security Council said in a statement.

The American president’s administration also stressed that Washington is focused on providing Ukraine with the help it “needs to regain its sovereign territory”.

“We’ve seen the news [об атаке] and gather information about what happened to better understand what happened. In general, as we said before, we do not support attacks. [Украины] within Russia. We were very clear on that,” said Karine Jean-Pierre, the White House press secretary later.

British Foreign Secretary James Cleverley said that Kiev has the right to use military force outside Ukraine’s territory for self-defense.

“Ukraine has a legitimate right to self-defense. “In addition to sending forces across its borders to undermine Russia’s ability to transmit power to Ukraine, it has a legitimate right to do so on its own soil,” he said.

The drone attack on Moscow and the Moscow region took place on the morning of 30 May. Telegraph channels and the media reported that several dozen drones were shot down in the capital area, there was no official confirmation of these data. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, a total of eight unmanned aerial vehicles were shot down: three with the help of electronic warfare, and five with air defense systems.

Explosions were heard in Rublyovka, Istra, Odintsovo, Krasnogorsk districts of the Moscow region and south and southwest of Moscow. Three drones crashed into residential apartments: on Atlasova Street in New Moscow, on Leninsky Prospekt and on Profsoyuznaya Street. It was learned that one person was slightly injured. Some residents were evacuated from the affected homes, but were allowed to return to their homes after a few hours.

Russian authorities described the incident as a terrorist attack. Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the attempted attack on Moscow was Kiev’s response to the attacks on Ukrainian decision-making centers on Sunday.

“It is clear that we are talking about the Kiev regime’s response to our very effective attacks on one of its decision-making centres. This Sunday was a hit. “I cannot say more about this matter,” he said.

Later this version was repeated by Vladimir Putin. He said the Moscow air defense system responded normally to the attack, but the military leadership “still has something to work on”. According to Putin, the Russian authorities understand what needs to be done to “squeeze” the air defense of the capital, and are already doing it. The president noted that Kiev was trying to provoke a mirrored reaction in Moscow with a drone raid.

Chechnya’s leader, Ramzan Kadyrov, called for martial law in the country to use all available resources against Ukraine.

“For me, it is very necessary to declare martial law in Russia, to use all war resources for this, to eliminate all this terror cell at once, without resorting to the expression “Ukrainian army”. There is no army and politicians in Ukraine, only terrorists,” he wrote on his Telegram channel.

Kadyrov added that the attack on Moscow had no strategic or tactical meaning, but was instead aimed at attracting attention and “gaining information points after major defeats” on the ground. The head of Chechnya described such tactics as the favorite method of terrorists. And he said that it was necessary to answer them not only harshly, but ruthlessly.
