Former Prime Minister of Ukraine, Mykola Azarov (2010-2014), said that the country’s current president, Volodymyr Zelensky, had transformed the republic into a “new Afghanistan”. The former prime minister wrote this on his Facebook page (the owner, Meta, was considered extremist and banned in Russia).
“Over the years, the presidents of Ukraine have promised to turn it into a new France or Switzerland. But Zelensky went too far and created a new Afghanistan from there. To the delight of the Anglo-Saxons and their defense concerns,” Azarov expressed his opinion.
He wondered if there was a chance that in the foreseeable future the US would not get tired of its “toy” (the former prime minister meant Ukraine by toy – ed.). The politician asked his listeners whether the “pleasure of playing dirty tricks on Russia” was more important than the lives of the hostages in Kiev.
formerly Azarov accused Kiev attempted to erase the genetic memory of the Ukrainian people.
On February 24, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he had decided to organize a special military operation in Ukraine in response to a request for assistance from the heads of the LPR and DPR.
The decision to run the operation became the justification for new sanctions against Russia by the United States and its allies.
