After the approval of the bill by the Sejm – appeal to the President
On Friday, the Sejm voted against the Senate’s resolution to reject the bill establishing a committee on Russian influence. The bill now goes to the president.
The opposition opposes the law. After the vote, the left appealed to President Andrzej Duda to veto the bill.
Referring to this act on program three of Polish Radio, Szrot stated that “the president believes that the more openness in public life, the more explanation of what provokes public controversy, the better”.

Influence law
An Act on the Establishment of a Commission on Russian Influence passed by the Sejm on April 14. It would examine Russian influence on Poland’s internal security in the years 2007-2022, written by PiS deputies.
On May 11, the Senate passed a resolution to reject this bill. On Wednesday, the Sejm’s Administration and Home Affairs Committee recommended that the Senate’s resolution be passed by the Sejm. In Friday’s vote, the Sejm voted against the Senate resolution to reject the bill.
By law, the commission must operate under principles similar to those of the Warsaw reprivatization review commission.
Commission tasks
The committee would analyze official activities, create, duplicate, share information with third parties; influencing the content of board decisions; making harmful decisions; making advance directives on behalf of a government agency or company; entering into contracts or disposing of public or corporate funds.
The decisions that the committee could take include: revoking an administrative decision issued as a result of Russian influence, issuing a ban on performing functions related to the disposal of public funds for maximum 10 years, and revocation and prohibition of security clearances for 10 years.
