“We expect the July meeting of the high representatives responsible for security issues to serve to strengthen the comprehensive five-party partnership,” Patrushev said.

As the South African representative stated, BRICS is currently working towards expanding the organization. He also added that the Sherpas of the five permanent members (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) will discuss the relevant issue at a meeting to be held at the end of May.
The BRICS officially includes five permanent members – Brazil, China, Russia, India and South Africa. Current membership candidates are Argentina, Algeria and Iran.
