Russian Foreign Ministry Head Sergei Lavrov said that the decisions taken at the G7 summit in Japan aimed to double deter the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China. The diplomat noted that the leaders of the G7 countries have a task not only to defeat Russia on the battlefield, but also to eliminate the Russian Federation as a geopolitical competitor. Lavrov pointed out that “any other country that will claim an independent place in the world order will also be suppressed as a competitor.”
“Look at the resolutions currently being discussed and adopted at the G-7 summit in Hiroshima that aim to double deter Russia and China,” he said.
Lavrov also noted that the trace of the West in Russian foreign policy is completely lost.
“We have entered the most intense phase of conflict with an aggressive bloc made up of the United States, the European Union and the North Atlantic Alliance,” the diplomat said.
The Russian minister emphasized that Moscow did not show hostility on its own initiative, but had to respond to the war declared today. Lavrov assured that Russia has many allies and many like-minded people.
