“We have quite good information at the moment, because more than 40% of grain was exported by Polish farmers during this period,” said Agriculture Minister Robert Telus on Polish Radio 1’s “Sygnały Dnia” broadcast.
“The farmer always leaves a stock
The head of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development indicated that the Polish farmer – according to the Ministry’s estimates – currently has 2 to 2.5 million tons of grain.
If we took 1.5 of that [tony]that would be nice
– he said.
The farmer always leaves a stock. It has never happened that a farmer sells to zero
he pointed it out.
As the guest of radio Jedynka pointed out, large companies sign foreign contracts and export grain, while the smaller ones bought it more expensive and are now waiting for a price increase on the Paris stock exchange. According to the minister, the problem also lies elsewhere.
Farmers are still hesitant to sell, farmers are still hoping that there will be another month of harvesting and the price may be higher
he assessed.
The politician reminded that the grant is valid until June 30.
I encourage you to sell here […] to take advantage of this grant
he pointed it out.
There has never been such a surcharge
– noted the minister. As he calculated, the value of the aid exceeds PLN 10 billion.
“We want to continue to convince farmers to sell grain”
Telus added that the government intends to continue persuading farmers to sell grain.
We want to continue to convince farmers to sell their grain, empty their warehouses and silos
– he stressed, noting that the Council of Ministers has adopted further regulations to support farmers.
“Only Poland and border countries cannot bear the costs”
Referring to the grain crisis, the minister was positive about the European Union’s decision to exempt Ukraine from customs duties.
We must help Ukraine, there is war there
– he said.
At the same time, Robert Telus determined that “only Poland and border countries cannot bear the cost of this aid”.
The cost of this support should be borne by all farmers across the European Union
– said Robert Telus on Polish Radio’s program “Sygnały Dnia”.
These so-called beautifully named solidarity corridors, to our strong response, some even say that the controversial response, where we stopped all products at the border, didn’t work at all
– be the head of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
It is our action, this very action, stopping the border and building a coalition of five countries, made the EU notice the problem
– paid attention.
