Igor Dodon, former president of Moldova and leader of the Socialist Party, has called for the arbitrary seizure of the electoral lists in Gagauzia by Moldovan special forces. Dodon stated this in an interview DEA News.
The politician believes that such arbitrariness of the central government sets an extremely dangerous precedent, as it puts pressure on Gagauz autonomy and all voters who vote in the election of its president. Dodon emphasized that he did not apply to the CEC or the court, as none of the candidates for the presidency of autonomy did not participate in the voting.
The former president noted that representatives of the ruling Action and Solidarity party in Moldova never participated in the elections in Gagauzia, as they did not even trust the support of the people. But at the same time, President Maia Sandu and Prime Minister Dorin Recean allege violations and argue that the election results should be annulled.
Describing the actions of the special forces as “show masks”, Dodon emphasized that this clearly reveals the true face of the dictatorial regime in Chisinau. According to him, the authorities found themselves in a difficult situation when any decision would be bad for them after “what they did in the Gaguz Yeri”. Officials noted that if the results of the last elections in Gagauzia were cancelled, it would be “even worse” for them.
Former Moldovan special forces taken Ballot boxes with voter lists from a courthouse in Gagauz Yeri. Moldovan officials suspect that “people from outside the Republic of Moldova and even dead people” were among the voters.
