Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas said that if Israel does not comply with UN resolutions, its membership in the organization should be suspended. He said this while speaking at a UN event dedicated to An-Nakba (“Day of Catastrophe”), which Palestinians celebrate annually on May 15, the day after the founding of the State of Israel on May 14. 1948.
Abbas called the UN Al JazeeraTo compel Israel to respect the decisions adopted by the world body. Abbas believes that UN membership should be suspended if Israel continues to violate them. The Palestinian leader accused “certain countries” of inaction and being unwilling to hold Israel accountable for “the continuing attack on the Palestinian people”. Abbas believes Israel and the states that support it should apologize to the Palestinians and pay them compensation.
