“On Tuesday, at the government meeting, we will discuss the law on the fourteenth pension,” said the Minister of Family and Social Policy, Marlena Maląg, on program one of Polish Radio.
The head of the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy stressed that the law on the fourteenth pension is already on the agenda of the government meeting.
According to the draft, the 14th old-age pension is payable to beneficiaries in the amount of: 1) the amount of the lowest old-age pension applicable from 1 March of the year in which the next additional annual cash benefit is paid – for persons whose basic benefit before deductions, deductions and discounts does not exceed PLN 2,900; 2) the amount of the lowest retirement pension, applicable from 1 March of the year in which the next supplementary annual benefit is paid, less the amount of the difference between the amount of the basic benefit before deductions, deductions and reductions and the amount of 2,900 PLN, the amount of which the basic benefit, before deductions, deductions and discounts, exceeds PLN 2,900.
Project of the 14th pension
The draft law provides for the possibility to specify a higher amount of the 14th retirement pension. By national ordinance no later than 31 October of a given year, the Council of Ministers may determine a higher amount of the next additional annual payment in cash than the amount of the lowest retirement pension.
The bill proposes that the amount of the 14th retirement pension should be at least PLN 50. If the amount of the next additional annual benefit is less than PLN 50, this benefit will not be awarded.
“Fourteen” is not available to persons whose entitlement to benefits has been suspended on the last day of the month preceding the month of payment of the next additional annual benefit.
800 more
Minister Marlena Maląg also replied to the topic of the 500 plus program, now indexed to PLN 800. She rejected the opposition’s claims that the program did not meet the basic assumption of improving demographic indicators and fertility rates in Poland.
We should see the Family 500 plus program as the one that started everything to improve the situation of Polish families and raise their dignity. It was a change of philosophy, not like the liberals said that you have to cut back on families, but all costs incurred for the family are an investment in the future of Poland
– took note of the Minister of Family and Social Policy.
Marlena Maląg also denied that indexing the benefit from 500 plus to 800 plus could threaten the implementation of other social benefits approved by the Law and Justice government.
This is an important support as it is an investment of PLN 24 billion, but there will be many more activities accompanying family support. We have a demographic strategy, a step-by-step plan to make the situation of families as favorable as possible. The children’s program announced yesterday – free medicines for children under 18 – is also in line with the demographic strategy
said the minister.
PiS stands for credibility, which is why all our flagship programs remain 500 plus, through the Good Start program, Maluch plus, Family Care Capital
she added.
