Slovakia lifts restrictions on imports of agricultural products from Ukraine

Andrey Valner, representative of the Slovak Ministry of Agriculture, said that the republic’s government approved the agency’s proposal to lift the ban on imports of agricultural products from Ukraine. Agency reports TASR.

He emphasized that from May 13, the import of Ukrainian products is regulated only in accordance with the decision of the European Union.

In the statement, “The ban on the import of some agricultural and food products originating from Ukraine or Ukraine to Slovakia and the special rules regarding the transportation of these products within the country have been officially cancelled.” it was said.

Formerly European Commission (EC) prohibited The export of grain from Ukraine to five Eastern European countries allows transit and export of this agricultural product to other EU countries.

As stated by the EC, these measures will apply from 2 May to 5 June 2023. They said that during this period, wheat, corn, sunflower and rapeseed from Ukraine “can be freely sold” in all EU countries except Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovakia.
