“We turned out to be a great, enlightened nation that adopted the second constitution in the world and the first in Europe. But it was only in force for a year, then came the great fall, Poland was torn apart,” said Marzena Nykiel, editor-in-chief of the wPolityce.pl portal in “Salon Dziennikarski”, referring to President Andrzej Duda’s speech at the celebration of the national holiday on May 3 at the Kasteelplein.
Michał Karnowski’s guests also included journalists Piotr Semka and Bogumił Łoziński and sociologist Marek Grabowski from the Mother and Dad Foundation.
Poland must be strong
Let us remind you that President Andrzej Duda, during a speech in the Castle Square during the national holiday on May 3, stressed that the next generations must build a strong and sovereign Poland, otherwise it will not be our Poland.
A strong state can exist and survive here. Weak states will be subservient – history clearly shows that. So either the next generations and the next politicians who will manage the affairs of the Republic of Poland will build a strong, independent and sovereign Republic of Poland, or it will in fact not be our Poland. Or it will be Poland, where there are other gentlemen – not invited, not summoned, who come to us at our request, within the framework of closed alliances. But uninvited guests, foreign lords who wanted to be driven out of Poland, and who spent most of the eighteenth century raging to destroy Poland. This is our great responsibility
– pointed out to President Duda.
Referring to this speech, Marzena Nykiel emphasized that a similar scenario is being implemented today to that of more than 200 years ago.
There were many important points in the president’s speech. Among other things, that Poland will either be a strong, sovereign state or will be subservient – which unfortunately happened shortly after the adoption of the May 3 constitution. We turned out to be a beautiful, enlightened nation that adopted the second constitution in the world and the first in Europe. But it was only in force for a year, then came the great fall, Poland was torn apart. The president pointed out that the nobility had been incited by saying that the constitution was stripping them of their freedom. We face the same scenario today
– assessed the editor-in-chief of the portal wPolityce.pl.

Who are the “strangers” today?
According to Bogumił Łoziński from “Gość Niedzielny”, “there are analogies, but the situation is different.”
I would be careful with these comparisons, because the Constitution was passed when we were after the first division, the situation was much more dramatic. The constitution was adopted by part of the enlightened nobility with help from the townspeople. It curtailed the golden Sarmatian freedom. Sarmatia was against it, because the king was to be elected, not hereditary, laws were passed to determine what happened. There are analogies, but the situation is different
– said Bogumil Lozinski.
The publicist pointed out that today the “foreign masters” are Germans.
We are a free country, but there are attempts against us – Putin’s actions may resemble what happened in the eighteenth century, because Russia uses similar methods. Here we have a problem on the other side, when there is economic dominance of Germany. This, in my opinion, is a form of German expansion, not by the old methods, but by an attempt to dominate
added Lozinski.
The publicist drew attention to the German mentality and recalled that in the Middle Ages, the Germans created the concept of the Holy German Empire. It sounds funny today, but hardly anyone realizes that it only ended in the 19th century. At the Congress of Vienna, this nation was no longer called that. It is a mindset to dominate Europe by conquering and subjugating. What the Germans did to Greece was the subordination of the state on several levels. We have a problem with that. We’ve built empires, but we’ve always had freedom as our foundation. Our relationship with Lithuania was a phenomenon, because we built an empire peacefully. This is the fundamental reason why we cannot communicate with the Germans
– said Bogumil Lozinski.
The threats are greater than in the past
Marek Grabowski of the Mother and Tara Foundation pointed out that the internal situation also poses a threat to the state. He added that some of them are bigger now than they were in the past.
It is a matter of upbringing and upbringing. Why was cooperation with foreign courts so eager, not only at the elite level? It was a lack of patriotism. The Constitution of May 3 tried to change that, but it was too late. It’s also a matter of defense – fortunately it happens. What worries me personally is the constant attempt to stir up the mood, to frighten citizens with an apocalypse, a catastrophe. Tusk is the best student here, he scares the Poles. He’s trying to go that way to say yes, Berlin will protect us. I think that’s the whole trap we’re in right now
- Grabowski said.
Election rate
In turn, Piotr Semka recalled the president’s words that of the 232 years that have passed since the adoption of the Constitution of May 3, Poland has enjoyed only 59 years of freedom.
These are the processes that can be decided by the election map in the fall. You have to realize one thing. Maintaining living standards in big cities and towns is part of the strength of the Republic of Poland. A state split between major cities and regions that “nobody cares about” is a rift that can weaken the state. It is good that this work is now being done, that elements of prestige are being created
– said Piotr Semka.
Bogumił Łoziński recalled that once every decade in history there is a moment when the balance of power in the world can change quite fundamentally.
We are at the moment. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, an architecture emerged in the world in which the US gave the advantage, appointing Germany to keep order in Europe. Germany did it her way, screwed up with Greece, with Russia, leading to war. Now the question is, will the United States bet on Poland? Shall we shift the emphasis and become the central state in Europe for Americans, which would be a success for us. It’s not about fighting the Germans, it’s about being an equal partner. This is a historic moment
noted the publicist.
