“The US Justice Department plans to send an experienced prosecutor to The Hague as part of US efforts to prosecute war crimes committed by Russia in Ukraine, Ukrinform news agency reported Monday.

US Attorney General Merrick Garland spoke of these plans after meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart Andriy Kostin, who is on a working visit to the US.
To further strengthen our partnership, the Ministry of Justice will second an experienced prosecutor to the International Center for the Prosecution of Crimes against Ukraine, established on the basis of the Joint Investigation Team
Garland said.
He explained that the representative of the US Attorney General’s Office will be located in The Hague, at the European Union Agency for Judicial Cooperation in Criminal Matters.
Permanent Legal Adviser at the US Embassy in Kiev
In addition, according to Garland, Washington plans to second its permanent legal adviser to the US embassy in Kyiv this summer. His job “will be to work with Ukrainian partners on a whole list of complex issues in the justice sector.”
Garland also said he had spoken with Ukraine’s attorney general about further concerted efforts to hold the Russian regime accountable for its atrocities. He added that there is also cooperation at the level of the KleptoCapture task force, recently established in the US, which “continues to pursue and seize the assets of sanctioned Kremlin and Russian military supporters”.
