Russian President’s Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov said that the Russian leader’s administration is not interested in the extradition of Sofia Sapega, a citizen of the Russian Federation convicted in Belarus. He announced this during a briefing with journalists.
“This is not the problem of the Presidential administration. Asked about when Sapieha will return and what awaits her in Russia, a Kremlin spokesperson said: “We are not directly dealing with this issue.”
On April 12, Alexei Maskalev, the press secretary of the Russian Embassy in Belarus, stated that on April 10, the Russian consul visited Sapega and accepted already from his consent to be extradited to the Russian Federation for further punishment on the territory of his native country.
Later, the Belarusian Prosecutor General’s Office, pleased petition for the transfer of Sofia Sapega, a Russian woman imprisoned in the republic, to Russia to serve her sentence.
In Belarus, a girl was sentenced to six years in prison under seven articles of the penal code, including inciting social hatred and discord.
