We want to sign a “governance pact” with the rest of the opposition, identifying the main areas of governance after winning the election; there is a response from Poland 2050 and the PSL, we are waiting for a response from Civic Platform – Krzysztof Gawkowski, the leader of the Left party club, said on Polish Radio One.
On Friday, Gawkowski was a guest on Polish radio’s first program, where he was asked about the opposition’s election plans. In a response, the leader of the Left party pointed out that the Left expressed its willingness to participate in the joint list, but other parties did not show it. He added that the left parties – Nowa Lewica, Razem, Unia Pracy and PPS – are going to the elections together.
We have our candidates, we are preparing for the campaign. In fact, we are already running it, traveling around Poland – there are hundreds of these meetings
Gawkowski said.
He ruled that since “nothing has happened since January” regarding a possible joint list of opposition parties, the matter should be “closed”.
The left-wing politician emphasized that he did not want to accuse anyone of this.
There is no enemy in the opposition. We walk separately, but we work together
he said.
As he added, the left would like to make a “government pact” with other opposition parties.
Since there is no joint list, the left proposes that we agree on the signing of a document on joint governance before the elections
he said.
Possible coalition
As he added, it is a document outlining key areas of cooperation in a possible post-election coalition.
That there will be no splits, no divorces after the elections (…) We want to show that there is an alternative, that there is a group of political parties that has a specific goal and will carry it out
Gawkowski said.
The politician of the left indicated that “there is a reaction” on this issue from the leader of Poland 2050, Szymon Hołownia, and the leader of PSL, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.
Little by little, the partners begin to agree; we are waiting at the civic platform
– added.
Gawkowski also referred to the so-called Senate Pact on the cooperation of the opposition in nominating candidates for the Senate in individual constituencies. He said negotiations on this issue are ongoing and some constituencies are already “closed” – such as Częstochowa, where the leftist candidate, current senator Wojciech Konieczny, will sit. He estimated that about half of the constituencies are already divided between individual parties.
