Russian President Vladimir Putin’s spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, said it was necessary to check whether the “horrible images” of alleged decapitation of a Ukrainian soldier appearing on the network were real.
“I want to say that in the fake world we live in, it is necessary to check the authenticity of this shot,” Peskov said.
The Kremlin spokesman continued that if the authenticity of the footage is confirmed, authorities will have to identify who committed this crime.
The video, which allegedly depicts the beheading of a man, was posted on the network the previous day. In the footage, it is seen that a person in military uniform tried to resist by lying on the ground, while another person grabbed him and cut off his head.
Former Russian Ombudsman Tatyana Moskalkova statedIt was reported that the video containing “the execution of the ex-fighter of PMC Wagner with a sledgehammer”, which went to the Ukrainian side, was checked by the investigating authorities. A video of the alleged executioner stating that he was “pardoned” was later released.
