I believe that the suffering of Ukrainians will soon come to an end, and the end of this suffering will also be the beginning of rebirth, not only of Ukraine itself, but at least of Europe, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said in a podcast that Friday night on the internet.
“Ukraine is currently experiencing its Holy Week
In a podcast dedicated to Easter, the head of government referred to the situation in Ukraine.
Perhaps you can also say that Ukraine is currently experiencing its Holy Week. Perhaps this is too far an analogy, but the universal message of Christianity about the victory of good over evil and life over death, I believe, fits the situation beyond our eastern border
Morawiecki said.
I believe that the suffering of Ukrainians will soon come to an end, and the end of this suffering will also be the beginning of rebirth, not only for Ukraine, but at least for Europe. Sound pathetic? Maybe. But just beneath the pathos of these words is a gargantuan effort by millions of Ukrainians to defend their very existence
– emphasized the Prime Minister.
“A historic opportunity for both our countries”
Morawiecki pointed out that our country is trying to support Ukraine “in the military field, arms deliveries, humanitarian aid and by organizing financial aid between the rich countries of Western Europe and the United States”.
The head of government referred to Wednesday’s official visit to Poland by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, his wife and representatives of the Ukrainian president’s government.
Both President Andrzej Duda and I have, of course, spoken with President Zelensky about the current situation at the front, about the needs and support for Ukraine, which is defending itself, and about many other things. After all, when and how our neighbors succeed in defeating the invaders depends not only on them, but also on our future
the prime minister recalled.
Among other things, during President Zelensky’s visit, we issued a letter of intent regarding the purchase of Rosomak combat vehicles by the Ukrainian army, we also signed a memorandum on cooperation in the reconstruction of Ukraine and began to remove obstacles for Polish companies involved in want to be involved in this reconstruction
Morawiecki emphasized.
According to the prime minister, the alliance we are building with Ukraine “is a historic opportunity for both our countries to exorcise the geopolitical demons of Central and Eastern Europe”.
Our partnership can be the main force of the new European order taking shape before our very eyes. We have an opportunity, to the benefit of Poland and Ukraine, to establish a new balance in Europe, ensuring the security, competitiveness and faster, more sustainable development of the European Union
he stressed.
This requires lasting peace, not temporary peace. That is why we insist on starting accession negotiations with the European Commission as soon as possible. A safe Ukraine in the EU means a safe and richer Poland
– assessed the head of government.
He also noted that anything discussed during Zelensky’s visit did not require an official state visit.
Zelensky and the first lady of Ukraine mainly came to Poland to personally thank the Poles
he pointed it out.
Morawiecki thanks too
The head of government also thanked the Poles in this context.
To all Poles who, with their attitude and actions, have contributed to the fact that Ukraine continues to defend itself; for the fact that together we teach the world lessons of humanity and patriotism. We do this at a time when the political mainstream sometimes tries to go against these values
noted the prime minister.
I also want to thank the Ukrainians. While they are defending themselves against Russian barbarism, they are also defending us against it. After all, gratitude is one of the most beautiful and important elements of a celebration
concluded Morawiecki.
