Radio Zet made public information about the health of the husband of Sejm Chairman Elżbieta Witek, claiming that he had been “blocking” a place in the ICU for several months. Although she and her family are entitled to treatment in the best facilities in the country, which stems from legal provisions, Elżbieta Witek’s husband has been in hospital in Legnica for quite some time. Stanisław Karczewski reveals the motivations behind the media attack on the Sejm Chairman and her family just before Easter.
This is extremely despicable and shameful behaviour. I happen to know these journalists because on August 1, they also attacked me in an unjustified, ridiculous and deceptive way. They did not apologize to me, they gave me false information that I was in contact with criminals and this information circulated in the media for several days. However, what these journalists did to the marshal’s husband and herself is reprehensible. You absolutely cannot say that treating one patient comes at the expense of treating another patient, and I say that as a doctor. It’s completely irrational! You can’t say it like that, it’s inhumane. I can’t imagine what the Radio Zet journalists did. Releasing information about the health of a politician’s spouse or family is unheard of in our culture and this is the first time I’ve seen anything like it. So if it is an attack on the politician’s family and himself, it can be considered a political attack. This is something that as a doctor I don’t fit into my head

The PiS politician noticed from his own medical experience that decisions about the treatment method are made by the doctor and that the doctor is always guided by the medical oath. His decisions are not and cannot be influenced by non-medical factors, such as political opinions, the patient’s race, etc.
This is the decision of the doctors, not the marshal. These cases are decided by a group of doctors and this can also be considered an indirect attack on them

Brutal campaign
The editors of Radio Zet made public the state of health of a private person, in violation of the law on the protection of personal data. Despite the fact that Marshal Witek, as she stated, spent almost an hour explaining her family situation to the editors of Radio Zet, they did not think it appropriate to inform the public about this. Senator Karczewski has no doubt that beating Marshal Witek’s family is a political act.
This is a political attack on the Marshal, who is an extremely active person, highly skilled and dedicated to her work. The journalists couldn’t attack her, so they attacked the family. On the other hand, publishing information about the health of the spouse is a violation of the law and I am confident that the Marshal will take legal action because we as doctors are not allowed to release patients’ data even to the extent that the patient data in the department is covered. So that’s what these journalists are known for, because they also talked to me and misled public opinion. That’s why such journalists should be boycotted and never ask me anything in life, because they don’t follow the standards

The dire situation of using the private life of Marshal Elżbieta Witek’s family may indicate that the electoral campaign for the parliamentary elections in the autumn will be extremely brutal.
